Start your day with a stop at White Mountain Bagel Co. for a quick morning bite. Then,  visit Rocky Glen Falls, a hidden gem located near Lincoln. The short, scenic hike to the falls is especially beautiful in the fall, with vibrant foliage framing the cascading waters. Spend some time here soaking in the tranquility of nature.

Afternoon: Artist's Bluff and Echo Lake

In the afternoon, hike to Artist's Bluff, one of the most popular spots in Franconia Notch State Park. The moderate hike rewards you with breathtaking views of Echo Lake and the surrounding mountains, ablaze with fall colors. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll around Echo Lake, and pack a picnic to enjoy the serene waters and picturesque scenery.

Late Afternoon: Flume Gorge

After lunch, take a visit to Flume Gorge in Franconia Notch State Park. This natural gorge extends 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty, with towering granite walls, waterfalls, and covered bridges. The 2-mile loop trail through the gorge is a must-see, especially during the fall when the foliage adds a magical touch. You will want to purchase tickets ahead of time for a specific time slot. Dinner: One Love Brewery

Head back to Lincoln for dinner at One Love Brewery. Located in a historic mill building, this brewery offers a relaxed atmosphere and a menu featuring local ingredients. Try their signature burgers or a craft beer flight to sample some of their best brews.


DAY 2: SCENIC DRIVES AND NATURAL WONDERS


Morning: Kancamagus Highway

Begin your second day by driving along the Kancamagus Highway, one of New England’s most scenic routes. This 34.5-mile stretch through the White Mountain National Forest offers spectacular views of the fall foliage. Make sure to stop at the many overlooks and take short hikes to fully appreciate the beauty. My favorite places to stop included Lincoln Woods Trail, Sabbaday Falls, and Rocky Gorge Scenic Area.

Lunch: The Cheese Louise Commissary

After exploring the Kancamagus Highway, stop at The Cheese Louise Commissary for a delicious lunch. This local eatery is known for its gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and homemade soups. Enjoy a comforting meal before hitting the road for more scenic adventures.

Afternoon: Silver Cascade

After lunch, stop by Silver Cascade. Located along Route 302, this beautiful waterfall is easily accessible and a great spot for photos. The cascade is especially picturesque, surrounded by autumn leaves.

Head to the Mount Willard Trail Head for your last hike of the day. This moderate trail is 3.2 miles round trip and offers stunning panoramic views of Crawford Notch, making it a favorite for leaf peepers.

DAY 3: A DAY IN VERMONT


Morning: Drive to Woodstock, VT
